BARMY FOR BOARS

Health Issues - (General) Paws

Claws deformities & over grown claws

What is it? Some piggy's are born with funny looking claws. I have seen claws that grown the wrong way & make it awkward to walk. More common claw problems however are caused by over grown claws which begin to curl back round into the foot pad. Keeping your guineas claws trimmed can help. If you are not confident about cutting claws take them to a vet and ask to be shown how to do it. Guineas claws grow & grow & you need to keep up to them.

Calluses& Spurs

What are they? Spurs are & Calluses are also known as 'Cornflakes' because they are hard & crispy!. They are flaps of skin usually found between toes or on the underside of the foot. They are more commonly found on front paws. Left: a callus.

What do I do?Trim them with scissors, They will grow back but you just trim them again.
