Introduction: So many exist about keeping boars together. And so when boars do find homes they are often keep to live solitary lives, isolated from the company of another pig which they crave. A pair of boars can happily live together! But never just put 2 boars together & expect them to get on. They won't & they may well engage in serious fighting. Boars must be introduced slowly & carefully & we can show you how.
Barmy 4 boars recognises that some people keep successful Trios but stress that inexperienced owners should not attempt to introduce a third boar as this may upset the status quo & lead to permanent separation of all 3. We believe 2 is the magic number when it comes to boars!

There are a variety of ways to pair up pet boars. This is usually done by keeping 2 brothers or introducing 2 young boars. If you are adopting your pigs you could get an established pair, that way you know they will get on well together. The best chance of successful introductions is with two young boars or an adult & a tiny baby. Some older adult boars can be introduced successfully to each other if this is done slowly, carefully & with patience. Check out our 6 part guide to the options when it comes to keeping boars! The titles in the box above take you through each of the options for keeping boars! Enjoy & remember.. the company of another guinea pig is the greatest gift you could ever give your guinea pig.
Below: Our friend Janet adopted Ozzy & Onzlo, a pair of baby Abyssinian brothers from Squeaky pigs rescue, Castleford. Remember rescues rarely have baby pigs but may occasionally have pairs of older brothers.
