Barmy For Boars

'Barmy for Boars' was set up by Susie Bucktrout (that would be me! Here I am with Prince and Spam). I am 22 years old & from West Yorkshire (UK), I am a Primary School Teacher, currently yeaching 6-7 year olds. I set up the site an information resource about guinea pigs, created with the intention of helping to encourage people to keep BOARS & help them to do so. Its not that we don't like sows (how could anyone not?!) its just that we adore boars... in fact we are barmy about them & we can't understand why they have such a difficult lot in life. With a general lack of information & so much misinformation about keeping boars (even Peter Gurney says in one of his books its best to stick with Sows to allow room for expansion) a site dedicated to boars & their care was needed. I hope this does the job! Hopefully, with your help in spreading the word we can save a few boars from a miserable lonely life without a friend at the bottom of someones garden year round!

All the web design is done by myself & I am a complete amateur.. but its getting there. So no bells & Whistles I'm afraid. Maybe one day! Picgtures a plenty though as my guineas like to strike a pose!

Although I am relatively new to guinea pigs, I really did my homework before getting some & am continuing on the learning curve! Most of the information on this site has come from my great friends on the Squeaky Pigs Forum (now closed) , and research from books & the net.

Thanks x

I would like to thank all my guinea pig friends from the Squeaky pigs Rescue site for the many ways you have helped me in putting together this site & looking after my boys! In particular Louise Byrne who runs the rescue (site & forum). Thank you so much Louise, not only for my 4 special boys, adopted from you but for all your help & advice. Thank you too to Karen, Chrissie & Angela... the experts!. Much of the information on here is what I have learnt from you three & Louise. Chrissie a special thanks for all the help & advise on skin & bathing.
