Rufus' Trios!

Hello Boar Fans! We are three happy boars who live together in harmony and would like to tell other people that it IS possible for us to live in pairs or even trios. Our names are Kostas,  Hunkydory and Dewey.

We also lived as a group of Gunther ,

Kostas and Dewy too, we are adaptable Our owner Rufus also keeps sows and thinks the secret to continued successful pairings and grouping is in being meticulous about keeping female piggy smells aways from us, being brave when we are sorting out our pecking order, so as not to inetrvene, and in using smelly things to disract us if we do smell girlies - such as a rub of fresh garden mint under our noses to mask the girl smell.

 

Gunther has also lived with a boar friend, the late great Dylan ~ living proof that boars can adapt to new hutchmates with a little careful planning ~ they were introduced when they were both 3 or more years old We are happy in a group and enjoy group eating - so Rufus serves up large vegetables to keep us busy - if it is too big for us to run off with we soon relax and eat together - we also share one water bottle and one food bowl, but in a largish hutch
