The Houghton Piggys!
Above: Super sized Boar Dobbin. He was 1 yr old last January. Dobbin is a 3lb 7.3/4oz whopper!! One of the cutest, intelligent piggies owner Carol has ever had!! You can read a story about Dobbin by his human Francesca here!
Above left is Pip. Same age as Dobbin (brothers). He was the smallest of the litter and their previous owner had to hand feed him for a while after he was born. He is a chunky pig now though and weighs in at 2lb 14ozs. Very skittish piggie but loves a cuddle once you manage to capture him!!
Above right is Bournville. Another brother of Dobbin and Pip. He is not much behind Pip in weight, weighing in at 2lb 13.1/2 ozs. Beautiful orangy brown coat with black flecks and cream coloured tummy. Very cheeky!! He had ingrowing eye lashes when he was born and this was cured by a colligen injection.
Left: Pebble. Pebble is the latest piggie to join the Houghton family. She lived with her mum and dad and seemed to lose her personality and become depressed. Since we have had her she has become full of bounce and very cheeky. She does not like other piggies really and, although is happy to be with Biscuit nose to nose through the mesh partition dividing their hutches, she will not join in any play time with Hattie and Biscuit and tends to get a little nasty. She may have been pastered by her father. Pebble is sister to the three boys but was born the November before
they were born. (in the January)
Far Left: The lovely biscuit.
Biscuit is Hattie's sister and the most fun loving piggie you could ever meet!! She purrs at anything! Pick her up, she purrs, put her back in her hutch and she will purr. Feed her, more purring. Cuddle her and kiss her and she purrs!!! I have a wonderful video clip of Biscuit sitting on Danielle's chest and they are both reading an Avon catalogue!! It is so funny! She is also the most greedy piggie of my family and would eat until she bust if I didn't keep a check on her!!
And Last but by no means least gorgeous lady Hattie. (Above left)
Left is her and Carol having a good old kiss and cuddle. She was the runt of her litter and has had lots of health problems the most serious of which was
last May when Carol nearly lost her as she was so ill. She had to be taken to a vet 156 miles away to get proper treatment although it is now thought that she may have suffered with Intersusseption which was one of the things not diagnosed by that vet. She had high enzyme readings from her blood test in connection with liver and pancreas and she also has ovarian cysts. Hattie loves nothing better than to be cuddled and she licks your chin and cheeks like a puppy!!
